This past weekend, December 6th and 7th, there were outstanding swims in the SZ TISCA Swimming Championship. 

Starting off, Parker Mandacina secured multiple podium finishes this year, highlighted by a first-place finish in the 200-yard breaststroke with a best time of 2:20.39. She also brought home another gold in the 100-yard breastroke, stopping the clock in 1:05.14. In the 200-yard butterfly, she took home third place with a time of 2:07.63. In the morning, she recorded a personal best time of 2:06.62. Parker also earned a fourth-place finish in the 100-yard butterfly with a best time of 57.93, showcasing her versatility. 

Ellison Mandacina secured fourth place in the 1,000-yard freestyle, and clocked her best time 1:03.77 in the 100-yard individual medley (IM), earning a spot in the B final. Ellison also qualified for the finals in both, the 200-yard freestyle and 500-yard freestyle, continuing to build on her strong performances throughout the meet.

The girls' relay teams also had a remarkable showing. Both, the 800-yard freestyle relay and the 200-yard medley relay qualified for the A final. 

Individually, Soleil Elammari posted a personal best time of 2:03.56 in the 200-yard freestyle being the opening leg of the 800 yards free relay. She also qualified as a B final swimmer in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:02.25. 

Lilly also recorded a best time of 2:26.20 in the 200-yard individual medley, adding another highlight to the team’s success.

Carlos excelled in the butterfly events, setting a new personal best in the 50-yard butterfly with a time of 24.70, where he had an exciting swim-off. He also qualified for the A final in the 200-yard butterfly with a time of 2:06.80, repeating the exact same time that afternoon.

Lastly, there is a special recognition for Haley Harris. Throughout the meet she had special contributions to the team’s morale and unity. Her positive mindset and kindness continues to make a positive impact on the team. 

On the diving side, Iliya Ehterami won 2nd place in the 3m diving with a score of 273.20. He also got 2nd place in the 1m diving with a score of 465.65. Congratulations! 

With strong performances across the board and numerous personal bests, this championship meet was a great way to end the long championships this 2024.
